Policies & Frequently Asked Questions
Please review the following policies prior to participating in Vickery K9 training services. These policies help ensure a safe, organized, and positive experience for all dogs and handlers.
General Guidelines
-
Vickery K9 must have a current Dog Information Form on file annually for each participating dog.
Private training clients are also required to complete the Private Training Agreement prior to their first session.
Group class clients complete applicable policies and agreements during registration and do not need to complete the separate Private Training Agreement unless otherwise instructed.
-
Training services must be paid in full at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Payment reserves your appointment or class space.
-
Dogs participating in training services should be in good health and free from contagious illness.
Vickery K9 recommends dogs be current on vaccinations appropriate for participation in training environments, including rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, as recommended by your veterinarian.
Vickery K9 reserves the right to deny participation or remove any dog from training services if the dog appears ill or may pose a health risk to other dogs or participants.
-
Owners are responsible for maintaining control of their dogs at all times and for following all handling and safety instructions during training.
Please disclose any behavioral concerns, bite history, reactivity, or other safety considerations prior to participation so appropriate accommodations can be discussed.
Vickery K9 reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services for dogs or handlers whose behavior is unsafe or inappropriate for the training environment.
-
Dog training is an ongoing process, and results vary based on many factors including consistency, environment, handling skills, and follow-through outside of scheduled sessions.
Vickery K9 does not guarantee specific behavioral or training outcomes.
-
For in-home or off-site training sessions, owners are responsible for providing a reasonably safe training environment and disclosing any relevant safety concerns or household animals prior to the session.
-
Training sessions may occasionally be photographed or recorded for educational or promotional purposes. If you prefer that you or your dog not appear in public media, please notify Vickery K9 in writing.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
-
Changes made 48 hours or more before the scheduled appointment will receive a full credit toward a future training service.
No credits or refunds will be issued for cancellations or changes made less than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment.
-
A full credit will be issued if a cancellation request is received at least 7 days prior to the start of the first class.
A 75% credit may be issued for cancellation requests received at least 72 hours prior to the first class, only if the spot can be filled by another team.
No refunds or credits will be issued after this time.
Because class sizes are intentionally limited, make-up sessions are not available for missed classes.
-
Failure to attend a scheduled lesson or class without prior notice will be considered a no-show, and the session will be forfeited with no refund or credit issued.
-
All cancellation or rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing via email to meghan@vickeryk9.com or by text to 803-220-8207.
-
When eligible under the cancellation policies above, a credit means the amount already paid will remain available on your Vickery K9 account and may be applied toward a future training service, class, or appointment.
Credits may be issued for qualifying cancellations or rescheduled appointments made within the timelines outlined above. Credits are not cash refunds and cannot be transferred to another person.
Credits must be used within 3 months of the originally scheduled service date.
What To Bring & General Class Reminders
For most training services, please bring:
Plenty of small, high-value training treats cut into pea-sized pieces
Your dog on a flat collar, harness, or other training equipment appropriate for class
A treat pouch or easy way to access rewards
Water for your dog
For swimming and dock diving classes, please also bring an appropriate floating toy such as a bumper or ball, along with high-value treats.
Please potty your dog prior to class, and arriving a few minutes early is always appreciated.
All dogs must remain on leash unless otherwise instructed. Please help maintain a safe and positive training environment by keeping appropriate distance from other dogs and avoiding on-leash greetings, play, or direct interactions between dogs unless specifically instructed during class. A good rule of thumb is to maintain at least 8 feet of distance between dogs.
Please clean up after your dog promptly, and avoid retractable leashes unless previously discussed or approved.
